Ill Winds, Blistering Sun

La Guajira is a hardy place. It endures blistering sun and unrelenting winds. The north is very arid. So much so, that one questions why on earth anyone would chose to live there. Perhaps it used to be not so dry? Perhaps they lived somewhere better and then had to make do with somewhere not so good?

The south of La Guajira is not so dry, but it is still pretty dry. The people in the south tend to a paler complexion; in the dryer north they seem to be more indigenous. More Wayuu.

Over the past decades, the dry Guajira has gotten hotter and dryer.
