Internally Displaced forced to flee by Operation Genesis, a Colombian Army and paramilitary joint offensive, in the port town of Turbo. September 1997
Pavarandó
“Death – People’s Self-defences” – Graffiti left by right-wing paramilitaries in the village of Pavarandó in the Urabá region. The village had become the site of a refugee camp as thousands of displaced Afro-Colombian families were halted here by the Colombian Army after being displaced from their homes in the Salaquí area of the Lower Atrato River region.
